Packers Off-season Has Been Full of Moves, including Losings Greg Jennings to the Vikings

The Packers off-season has been full of moves including losing Greg Jennings to the Vikings. HOW could they do that to us?! We also lost linebacker Erik Walden to Indianapolis Colts and tight end Tom Crabtree to Tampa Bay Bucs. The Green Bay Packer roster moves are not over yet, but we know that this season will still be greater than ever.

We Love Donald Driver at Packer Players Blog!

When Green Bay Packers head coach was asked about Donald Driver he said, “Here’s a guy that’s gone through a lot, but he’s always worked hard. From the first day I met him you could see in his eyes that he was going to do whatever it took to be a great player. It doesn’t surprise me, the success that he’s having, because this guy’s given so much and put in so much time. He deserves the success he’s had. It’s an amazing story.”

Donald Jerome Driver was born in Houston, Texas on February 2, 1975. Donald grew up in poverty during his younger years. After his father went to jail and they lost their home, Donald turned to stealing cars and dealing drugs to feed his four other siblings. When his mother was unable to buy a hotel room they lived in the back of a U-haul truck. At the age of fourteen his family decided to send Donald to live with his grandmother. There he attended Houston’s Milby High School. Donald Driver excelled in football, baseball, basketball, and track.

Donald Driver received an athletic scholarship to attend Alcorn State. Again he excelled in football and track and field. His seven-foot, six-inch jump would have qualified him for the 2000 Sidney Olympics. Donald received the conferences ‘Athlete of the Year Award’ three years in a row. Driver left Alcorn State with 88 receptions for 1,933 yards and 17 touchdowns.

The Green Bay Packers drafted Donald Driver in 1999. He was picked in the seventh round and was 213 pick overall. Donald Driver's most famous play happened on December 16, 2007 when he caught Brett Fares’ record breaking all-time passing mark of 61,361 career yards. Other things he has accomplished while being with the Green Bay Packers is; 3 time Pro Bowl selection, All-Pro selection, 2002 team MVP, 2002 Green Bay Packers’ “Walter Payton Man of the Year” award, and Green Bay Packers’ nominee for the 2005 Ed Block Courage award. Donald Driver and his wife also started a charity fund, the Donald Driver Foundation, which helps women’s shelters and single mother’s. Donald Driver is an amazing man on and of the field.

In the 2009 season, Donald Driver added to two new team records. The season was Donald Driver's seventh season (sixth consecutive) to go over 1,000 yards. Donald Driver started all 16 games and totaled 70 receptions and six touchdown catches. Driver also became the Packers all-time leading receiver in catches. During Super Bowl XLV, Donald Driver was injured and had to sit on the sidelines as the Packers went on to beat the Pittsburgh Steelers 31-25.

Mason Crosby is our HOTTEST Packer Player

Mason Walker Crosby was born in Lubbock, Texas on September 3, 1984. He attended Georgetown High School where he played as a placekicker, punter and free safety. As a senior he earned first-team all-district honors and was All-Central Texas at kicker. PrepStar named him to its All-Midlands team and Rivals.com ranked him as the No.3 placekicker in the nation. He was first-team all-district and second-team all-region at kicker as a junior. He made the longest field goal in Texas in eight years when he kicked a career-best 59 yards it tied him for the third longest in state history. He earned all-district honors as a sophomore and junior.

During his senior season at Colorado Mason Crosby became the first player in Big 12 Conference history to be named player of the week eight times. In late 2006, he also became Colorado’s all-time leading scorer with 308 career points. He made a school record 60-yard field goal against Iowa State in 2004. In all Mason Crosby holds 31 school records.

Mason Crosby was drafted in 6th round by the Green Bay Packers in 2007. He captured the league scoring title with 141 points and became the first rookie to lead the league since Chicago Bears’ Kevin Butler in 1985. He also set franchise records for points in a season by a kicker and for points by a rookie, joining three other players as the only kickers in Packers history to score more that 100 points as a rookie. He was named to the Dallas Morning News All-Rookie team. Mason Crosby also earned ‘NFC Special Teams Player of the Month’ for November, when he made 12 of 15 field goals over a five-game stretch including five from 45 yards or longer. Mason Crosby posted 14 touch backs which put him third in the NFC, sixth in the NFL, and best by a Green Bay Packer in 16 years. Crosby kicked off the 2010 season strong with a field goal from 56 yards in the last seconds of the first half against the Philadelphia Eagles, marking a career long and franchise record.

Mason Crosby has a very promising future with the Green Bay Packers.

Meet Clay Matthews... HOT Packers Player

Clay Matthews was selected in the first round of the 2009 NFL draft by the Green Bay Packers and is proud to make his family the second ever to have 3 generations play in the NFL. In September 2010, Matthews was awarded with the NFL's defensive player of the month award and later to the 2011 Pro Bowl NFC roster, which was his second consecutive selection in two years of play. After helping to lead his defensive line to Super Bowl XLV, Matthews missed out on the NFL Defensive Player of the Year Award by only two votes.

Donald Driver's Media Success

Donald Driver sure has a bright future onscreen whenever he leaves the NFL for good (sob!).

What a charmer.
After winning the 14th season of Dancing with the Stars, Donald Driver launched a huge tour of the top shows.  He was interviewed by everyone from Live! with Kelly, Ellen from The Ellen Degeneres Show, and Jimmy Kimmel Live!  In between those big names, he was featured on shows such as Entertainment Tonight, Extra and stations like CNN and BET.  As we've seen here on this blog, he's a natural onscreen.

Maybe someday we'll be tuning into the Donald Driver Show, Live!  I can not actually imagine stranger things happening...

Tom Crabtree's Family

Since focusing on Jordy Nelson's family in the previous post, I wanted to keep up that thread with another look at another Green Bay Packers family.  This time, we've got Tom Crabtree's little family in focus (well...somewhat...it's a screen shot) here.

Tom is married to Chelsea and in this photo they're posing with their adorable little boy, Bryce.  Since this picture was taken, the Crabtree family expanded to welcome in a little girl, Delaynie.

It's refreshing to see these burly NFL guys rush off-field after a big game to find their young wives and little kids/babies.  Brings out a whole new element in their personalities as the game faces are dropped and the smiles start.  Makes me love the Green Bay Packers players that much more.  Go, Pack, go!

Greg Jennings...Not much left to say!

The guy has been widely covered here because, let's face it, he's simply amazing.  Year after year, I've focused on his family, religious convictions, stats, everything the anything.  And yet I feel compelled to write more.  Perhaps instead of covering new territory, I can make something new.  A haiku, you say?  Happy to do so!

Number eighty-five
You are an NFL rock.
Love to watch you play.

And I won't leave you without a picture.  Enjoy this randomness.

Jordy Nelson's little boy

There are few things cuter than a dad and his little one bonding and playing together.  Jordy Nelson is one of those guys lucky enough to call themselves a father, in this case to his little boy Royal.

Royal will turn three this February so he's probably getting to be a good kicker and thrower with the mini footballs his dad is sure to be passing his way.  Together with his wife, Emily, Jordy Nelson is raising Royal right around Green Bay, Wisconsin, making this family guy in close proximity to his career.  Emily, meanwhile, works at a local elementary school.  Just the typical all-American couple...except for the fact that Jordy Nelson is living the dream on Lambeau Field.  Oh yeah!

DJ Williams surprising musical taste

It's not too often that the NFL stars surprise me with their musical choices.  Nine times out of ten, it's either rap or rock as their preferred style.  But reading through DJ Williams Green Bay Packers official profile actually made me stop and re-read a few times.  Because, whoa guys, DJ Williams is not ashamed to hide one of his favorite musical artists of all time.  And here she is...none other than Celine Dion!

Just as shocked as I am.
DJ Williams must really enjoy her top hits from Titanic of course or "All By Myself."  Classic.  But what does he listen to before stepping on the gridiron?  She does have some zesty tunes in addition to her ballads.  Perhaps it's something like "River Deep, Mountain High" or the passionate and inspiring "It's All Coming Back to Me Now."  That one is intense.

So there you have it.  DJ Williams is a Celine Dion lover.  Wonder if he shares his iPod with the other guys on the team...

James Jones' website

Have you checked out James Jones' sweet website lately....or ever?  If not, you're missing out.  Click here.
James Jones is pointing you toward his online profile.
Of course, my favorite part of the James Jones online experience is the photos, closely followed by the videos.  In the picture section, he has NFL photos, college shots from his time at San Jose State, and an event section profiling all the special locations/places he's lent a hand.

I filled out the schedule an event page with my own home address as the destination.  Wonder how much he'd charge?  :)

And you've gotta love a guy with a charitable heart.  He has a site to donate to Love Jones 4 Kids...so check it out and give a couple bucks to those in need.
